spring @ migration
It's been quiet here on the migration blog as I work on my usual spring things: taxes, show applications, travel plans for said shows, building up inventory. I've also been a little preoccupied with some more serious things this year. As a result, I made these plans, which do have an effect on the migration shop.
It's all exciting stuff! Above is a shot of some new designs in progress, and below is a little preview shot of the first collection (of gathered items for charity -- more details here) going up tonight in the migration goods shop. Hope to see you there!

open studio event this weekend!
So, I moved into a new (physical) space as well recently-- a new studio! It's at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, MA, and I love it! I've been taking my sweet time choosing colors, painting the walls, cleaning the floor, moving furniture around... and now I have just one day to finish it all (or at least make it presentable), because I'm participating in my first WAS First Saturday Open Studios event this weekend!
Saturday, February 5th to be exact. At the same time, I'm also participating in an event called Gifts from the HeART that's happening within the studio buildings. You pick up a postcard and visit participating studios, where you get a sticker for stopping by. The more stickers you collect, the larger the gift certificate drawing you get to enter. So fun! And I'm ridiculously excited to give out stickers.
If you're in the neighborhood, please stop by and say hello! I'm having a studio-warming party during open studio hours, 12-5. I'll have food + drinks + stickers! And specials! As in sale prices + stuff that never makes it online + probably some freebies. My studio is #410, in the C Mill. I'm not on the printed directory yet, but I'll have signs + postcards up.
Of course, if you need additional motivation, there are over 140 artists in the building, and a large number of them participate in open studios. Oh yeah, and the Classic Elite Factory Store is also at WAS.
Have a great weekend!

the holiday shop is open!
This is the first time I've done anything like this. I think because usually at this time of year I'm so overwhelmed it's all I can do to get me + my merch to all the holiday shows in (almost) one piece. This year I made a concerted effort not to overextend myself.
So while I'm still feeling a little crazy over here, I did manage to gather a nice bunch of things that I normally only have in-person at craft fairs into an online holiday shop. I hope you'll take a look around!
There are also some new + sale items in the migration etsy shop, and I'll be posting new brooches there regularly too!

renegade chicago + new things a-coming
Yup, it's THIS WEEKEND! September 11th + 12th. We're in booth #135, please stop by & say hello!
I love Chicago, and we head out a smidge early to catch dinner at Frontera 'cause we love Rick Bayless too, and because IT'S MY BIRTHDAY on Saturday, and clearly I'll be working. (Yes, we do plan on stopping in at XOCO too. Like I can resist churros! Oh yeah, and everything else on the menu.)
In case you are dissatisfied with the lovely illustrated advertisement/promotion in this post, I'm including a couple photos of more works-in-progress. Second photo is of a custom bunch for a wedding. I really like how they turned out!
And finally, new items will be added online (I know, about time) NEXT WEEK!

new stuff + shop update!
Headbands, word.
Our regular smaller clips + brooches will be made in limited-edition color collections, but custom orders will be available for other colors unless otherwise posted.
First update of the summer (thankfully before summer is over!) will be this Friday, 8/13. It'll be mostly sewn items. Previous collections will be moved over to the etsy shop, where there will be a sale! And a brand-new jewelry collection will be launched at the end of the month. Whee! See you soon!

San Francisco By the Bay...
It barely feels like I've been back at home at all, but I'm off again for the weekend. Deja vu: Renegade again, this time in San Francisco. I'm super-excited for Bi-Rite (hello, they now have soft serve!) but a tiny bit bummed that it's going to be so cold (low 60s) while we're in town.
Anyway, we'll be in booth #180.
Please stop by and say hello if you're at the show!
Directions + details at the Renegade website.

And Bay Area folks, save the date:
We'll be at Renegade San Francisco next weekend, July 31st + August 1st.

Renegade Chicago this weekend!
Yes, it's here again! I love Chicago, so I love going there, but this show is ALWAYS the weekend immediately following my birthday... so I usually delay really celebrating until after we get back. This year we're actually doing dinner + cake before we leave, plus we're doing what is literally our quickest trip in + out, so if you see me looking especially confused/exhausted (or just napping under the table) at the show, you'll know why.
We're in booth #145 this year! I'm listed at the show as traveling rhinos, but I'll have lots of migration stuff with me too! I'm sharing a space with the adorable bright lights, little city. We're in a corner spot, so we should be easy to find, especially with all the bright colored stuff we both make. If you get a chance to stop by, please mention this blog for 10% off ANY purchase from me.
Again, it's from 11-7 this Saturday + Sunday, September 12th + 13th. There are so many talented people and amazing things to see! Renegade website (and more details, directions, etc.) here!
